Insulated Tools and Gloves
Insulated tools, insulating blanket, electrician gloves and rubber insulating gloves are vital for people who install cables and come across dangerous sources of electricity very often.
That is why it is very important to buy good quality equipment when you are in the cable installation business or even when you are an electrician or simply at home trying to fix something.
A good example of a very appropriate product is the Arc Flash Hood with ear protection that is designed to protect your head as well as neck from any thermal effect related to an electric arc flash. This kind of equipment is particularly used by people working under live conditions like a fault finding for example. This one size hood has a lightweight design actually based on a baseball cap and includes a large and clear anti fog screen allowing the user to wear the hood at any time.
As the ears can be very vulnerable when working with live line cables and equipment, most hoods will cover this area as well. The apron portion of the hood provides two safety features which are that it will deflect any heat and molten debris but it will also greatly reduce the heat and toxic materials that could be inhaled by the person wearing the hood.
But it is equally important to wear insulated clothing and rubber insulating gloves to be properly protected against electricity. Rubber insulating gloves are particularly useful for workers who may come in contact with live or potential live cables or circuits.
Alternatively you can also buy rubber insulated sleeves for more security. These rubber sleeves provide an extended coverage of the arm from the cuff of rubber insulating gloves to the shoulder, thus protecting perfectly these areas from accidental contact with energised equipment or cables. The sleeves have a reinforcing fold at the cuff that will add less bulk to the cuff and fit into the glove more easily rather than a roller bead.
You can either take dipped sleeves that are manufactured like rubber insulating gloves but with porcelain forms dipped into a liquid rubber, dried and then trimmed, marked and cured. But you can also take moulded sleeves that are actually manufactured by either injection or compression moulding methods. The advantage of these methods is the actual ability to produce sleeves of type one or SALCOR type two synthetic rubbers. They provide the same high quality and electrical protection as natural rubber, with the added benefit of being resistant to ozone and ultra violet radiations.
